“I had a serious accident at my workplace, falling from height which rendered me quadriplegic (C-5/6 complete).
Being a worker’s compensation case I had many different entities seeking reports including various doctors of specialised fields, lawyers, physiotherapists, OT’s and even a psychiatrist. I found this to be a very taxing and laborious experience but one necessary for the final outcome of receiving adequate compensation and moving on in my life.

Rebecca Thompson from Independent OT services visited me in 2020 to undertake an Occupational Therapy report which would contribute to my compensation claim. The assessment process was quite smooth, I wasn’t rushed or harangued into answering questions like in other interviews, Rebecca was kind and empathetic of my situation. I believe it only took 2-3 hours for Rebecca to get all the necessary information and write an extremely detailed report that encompassed my injury and catalogued in great detail my needs in the present and future. The worker’s compensation process is very long and drawn out but by the end of 2023 the process had ended and I was compensated handsomely.

I was interviewed by Bronte Lloyd & Rebecca Thomson. My claim was due to a catastrophic motorcycle accident where my lower back and pelvis were totally obliterated; basically an open book fracture of my pelvis, 2 crushed vertebrae broken hips. I bled out & was resuscitated by medics. I received approximately 14% brain damage from lack of oxygen. I found the interview process extremely good, and I was able to convey my problems and issues easily. I felt it was extremely helpful to myself as for the fist time since the accident I was able to convey totally how I was feeling and the problems I faced. I would recommend both Bronte & Rebecca anytime.

Rebecca Thompson in person (and Bronte Lloyd was via video link) both came to my house in for an OT assessment. I have an acquired workplace physical injury to my tendons in my hands, arms, shoulders and neck. My experience with both Rebecca and Bronte was really good. Both were professional, courteous and at the same time very caring of what I was going through with loss of grip strength, pain and unable to perform tasks due to my tendon issues. I found the visit easy and they made me feel relaxed and therefore was able to be very open with what I was going through, how I was managing etc. I would highly recommend both of them.

Rebecca Thompson was instrumental in helping me gain access to the NDIS.
She was non judgmental and made me feel very comfortable with her gentle assessment of my physical issues in regards to my application. She did not overtax my limited abilities while testing me in order to gain the information she required.

Applying for NDIS support was one of the hardest applications I’ve ever done. I was on my last appeal and desperate to get some funding to help pay for much needed medical treatments and supplies. I suffer permanent multiple medical conditions, chronic musculoskeletal pain, chronic fatigue, mental health issues, lymphodema and others which make it impossible for me to work and therefore have the income to pay for the medical treatments I need to give me a better quality of life and prevent my conditions from deteriorating.
Without Rebecca’s patience and thoroughness to get all my complex medical conditions in the correct format and how they affect my ability to function in her report I would not have been approved.

Rebecca and Samantha were really fantastic, and I wholeheartedly recommend them and their practice. I am applying for NDIS access, and the NDIA allowed me to choose the Independent Medical Examiner. I researched extensively for OTs in Sydney who have experience with both psychosocial and fluctuating disabilities because these kinds of disabilities are very often difficult to understand – they don’t live in “tick-boxes” or fit the outdated assumptions about disability. I found Independent OT Medico Legal, and Rebecca Thompson specifically, and saw that she has experience with both.

I have a really hard time communicating when I’m triggered or under duress, and was both when she arrived because the situation was stressful to me. Both she and Samantha set me at ease with their empathy, friendliness, and professionalism, and I was able to communicate my experience of my disabilities without being overwhelmed with my emotions and unable to communicate. It was also more than evident I had made the right choice – it was very clear they have the experience I was after. I’m really grateful to them for their kindness, and the session was much, much better than I thought it would be. I recently had an Occupational Therapy assessment with Rebecca Johnson and Rebecca Thompson, and I would like to express how positive the experience was. From the very beginning, they created an environment that felt calm, safe, and welcoming. Their approach was genuinely non-judgmental, and they were both very approachable and professional throughout the entire assessment.

What stood out the most was how comfortable and at ease they made me feel when discussing very sensitive experiences, particularly the PTSD symptoms related to the incident. They listened attentively and respectfully, without any sense of bias or assumption. I truly felt heard, validated, and supported while sharing my experience.

My assessment by Rebecca Thompson was requested by my lawyer and was required as a result of my motor vehicle accident I sustained on 29th January 2017 which resulted in multiple serious life threatening bodily injuries also including an above knee amputation of my left leg.
